DO

Effective Connection Request Structure

  1. Context: Start with a polite and researched introduction.
  2. Value/Benefits: Offer value and show the benefit of connecting.
  3. Call to Action: End with a clear and concise call to action or a question. As soon as the recipient accepts the connection, a notification bubble will appear with your message. Ending with a question might get them to respond and start a conversation with you right away.

DON’Ts

Key Points to Avoid

  • Never send a request without a personalized message.
  • Avoid clicking “connect” on LinkedIn’s mobile app without personalization.
  • Don’t pitch your product/service in your initial connection request.
  • Asking for favors or feedback right away is a no-go.
  • Avoid using automation; authenticity builds trust.

Using LinkedIn strategically involves personalization, respect, and clarity in communication. Same as real-life networking and relationship building.
